Most often running onto a rugby field is a magical moment, where teamwork, skills, fitness and the sheer joy of the game blend into one. Sadly, when accidents happen, they can be life changing and disabling and this is why we are appealing to you our #supportsqaud – for your help.
Young Devon Bosman (18) aka “Bakkies” as he is fondly called by his friends, is from Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape and on 9 July he suffered damage to his spinal cord whilst playing rugby for his club Kruisfontein RFC.
Since this injury, Devon has spent 3 months in rehabilitation at the Aurora Hospital working really hard on his strength and ability to be able to self-propel in a manual wheelchair. His mobility equipment and assistive devices are all purchased in readiness for his discharge at the end of October 2022, but now we urgently need to address his family home which is too small and not at all wheelchair friendly or accessible for him to return to.
Will you help us with this small building project at Devon’s home? By doing so allow him to return home to his community and start the next chapter in his life as a person living with a disability. This build will significantly improve his quality of life, inspire hope, courage and strength into this brave young man.
