Legend has it that Spring Day is often wet, cloudy, windy and cold in Cape Town. Thankfully, although this past Wednesday the 1st of September was far from warm, it was a clear sunny day heralding in the promise of a new season, new growth and hope, and farewell to the long dark Winter months.

In celebration of the changing season and this past Women’s Month, the Players’ Fund hosted a fundraising High Tea for 50 ladies at the Stir Crazy Cooking School at the V & A Waterfront. This happy colourful occasion also doubled up as a book launch for The First Lady of Springbok Rugby – Annelee Murray. The ladies, many whom were wives and partners of both past and current Springboks, were most entertained by the only male in the house – MC Jean de Villiers, whose quick wit and close relationship with Annelee over many years, made the interview session with Annelee so up front and personal. This was another example of how the rugby community stands together even long after the final whistle has blown.

Thank you to SuperSport, SA Rugby, BrightRock and Moët and Chandon for making this celebration possible and such a happy one.
