When one’s journey on this earth is up, it is important that your parting wishes are documented. This will allow your loved ones to deal with the necessary healing process and not be caught up in administrative battles. A Will is a legal documentation of your wishes, an incredibly important document which should be drafted with a legal representative as soon as you have acquired assets and financial independence.
Between 12 and 16 September 2016, South Africa recognises National Wills Week and a number of attorney’s practices throughout the country will draw up basic wills for free. You will need to have the relevant documents ready, including: Identity documents, a list of your assets, details of guardians and the proposed executor of the estate.
There are tax benefits for those who leave charitable donations in their Wills.
The Players’ Fund would like to appeal to those who see the importance of helping rugby’s fallen heroes, to consider leaving a donation in their Will to the Player’s Fund. This gift will help us ensure that no player is ever left on the side lines.
