The Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players’ Fund was started in 1980 by current chairman Morné du Plessis and fellow Western Province rugby team mates. These passionate individuals were devastated after Chris Burger was fatally injured during a Currie Cup rugby match and were inspired to help those in a similar situation in the future. This lead to the creation of the Players’ Fund, which in 2015 will be recognising 35 years of supporting those who have been injured playing the game they love.

To commemorate this poignant milestone, the Players’ Fund will be hosting a 35th Anniversary Commemorative Event in association with Thorburn and the DHL Stormers at the Springbok Experience Rugby Museum at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town on Wednesday 11 March 2015. This event will serve as recognition of the history of the Players’ Fund and aim at thanking all those who have supported the Players’ Fund throughout the years.

This event will take place in lieu of the annual golf day previously hosted by the Fund and will include a guided tour of the modern and highly interactive Springbok Experience Museum, followed by a rugby trivia quiz, drinks, canapes and presentations from Players’ Fund chairman Morné du Plessis and fellow Fund founder – Professor Tim Noakes.

Corporates and individuals will be able to purchase “Tight 5” tickets for R3500 (incl. VAT) which will constitute a team for the evening events and will include four guests and one DHL Stormer.
