Each year we like to treat our volunteer Trustees to a day in the country, which has become known as a highlight on the Fund’s calendar. This year we were hosted on Wednesday 19 November by magnificent Beau Constantia  – a small boutique wine farm which looks over the Constantia valley and immediately makes you feel part of the family.

The formal section of the day comprised of a Trustee meeting with a back drop that we had to try hard to ignore, while serious business was being done. This was a particularly special meeting as two new Trustees were formally welcomed to the table – Tiaan Strauss and Hanyani Shimange. We look forward to having these two popular rugby icons involved in the Fund and implementing their new and fresh ideas.

We were also honoured to have a contingent from the SA Rugby Legends Association, who have quickly become part of the inner circle and always bring life to the party.

We then turned the upper level into our own “dining room” where we were taken through a wine and canape pairing by the farm’s extremely passionate and talented wine maker Justin van Wyk and then enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Monique’s Catering.

We were amazed at the hospitality from the staff and owners of the farm – Pierre and Cecily Du Preez and would like to extend a special thanks to them for hosting us and making us really feel at home.

We would also like to thank profusely all of our Trustees and guests who made the effort to join us for this special day.
