Injured: 18 August 1984, aged 15 while playing for his school Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch.
Wentzel is currently the Sports Manager at Maties, managing ParaSport as well as the clubs for persons with disabilities which include student and non-student clubs. The club supports; athletics, cycling, goalball, wheelchair rugby and swimming.
