MJ was injured during a head-on tackle while playing for his school against Hoërskool Monument. His head was positioned on the wrong side of the tackled player, resulting in a C4/C5 spinal cord injury. He received immediate medical attention and has since recovered well. In the coming weeks, he will undergo physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Shoneé completed her monitoring and evaluation field trip and coordinated the way forward with the medical team.
