Injured: 1 July 2017 at age 26, whilst playing for the Red Stars in Redelinghuys, a small farming community between Elands Bay and Piketberg in the Boland region of the Western Cape. Wiehan spent many weeks at the WC Rehab Centre in Cape Town following his injury, working really hard in both physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions, and much to his and our delight, some of his motor and sensory function slowly started to return. He was eventually able to walk out of the rehab centre and return home to his family and farming community. Sadly, his former job as a farm worker, was no longer available to him, as this required him to perform tasks especially with his hands which weren’t functioning 100%.
