Injured May 2008
My life was irrevocably changed when I broke my neck during a rugby practice at Pretoria Boys High School on Tuesday, 13 May 2008. I was in Grade 12 at the time.
After completing my rehabilitation I returned to Boys High and finished my schooling. I had to give up my immediate goals at the time and opted to enroll at the University of Pretoria to pursue a bachelors degree in Psychology.
In 2012 I started my blogrugbyfromawheelchair.wordpress.com/ which is when I discovered my passion for writing. I completed my Honours in Journalism at Tuks in 2014 and now spend my days writing stories about South Africa’s treasure trove of athletes.
Rugby still forms a huge part of my life and I am in love with travelling. There is nothing better than immersing yourself in another’s culture.
It has been an arduous journey to get to where I am today and I have yet to arrive at my destination which I feel I’ll never reach as I detest stagnation. I continually look for ways to better myself.
I would not be the man I am today if I did not have the support I receive from my family, friends, the Players Fund and absolute strangers. For this I thank you.
My story is not yet done and if you would like to tag along please use the following platforms.
